I am 30/31 weeks pregnant, and have been experiencing an odd sensation in my hands and feet. They will feel like they are "asleep", but without the pain associated with that-just the tingling accompanied by numbness.

Has anyone else experienced this, and what was the outcome? I will be calling my doctor, but I wanted to ask here in the mean time.

Thank you!

Mine would do this alot when I was pregnant, esp. if I were sitting still for a while (like at the computer) or lying down. My midwife said it was perfectly normal and due to your circulation being somewhat restricted in pregnancy. Also, the uterus growing puts pressure on not just organs but also nerves.

I would just dangle my arms and shake them and sometimes that would work. Or I would swing my arms in circles. For your feet, shake them as well or change positions or walk around a little.

It is because of the swelling in pregnancy tends to cut off circulation incompletely as well as press on nerves weirdly. Pretty common problem, but do mention it at your next visit. If your hands/feet stay tingling for more than an hour, call the doctor's office.

its just because your body has so much extra fluid circulating thru your hands and feet. Your tissues are swelling and putting pressure on your nerves. Getting in a different position should help. Also shake your hands and elevate your feet. It is totally normal, but its a good idea to call your doctor anyway. Good Luck hon!!!

It might just be numb because they become swollen later on in the pregnancy or it could be something more serious like diabetes. Your best bet is to contact the doctor to be on the safe side.

with 2 of my pregnanys i got carpel tunnel in my hands. there really isn't much i could do about it they said to lower my salt intake and drink lots of water. mine was realllllly painful. i also tried wrist braces and carpal tunnel gloves. none of it worked though. About 2 months after the baby it went away with no perment damage thank goodness. I hope you have better luck.

You probably have poor circulation. I would talk to the doctor about it to make sure its not diabetes or anything.
