WILL IT FLOURISH?

The AFL has 19 teams in atleast 6 major markets and has been around for 21 years in it's current format. These teams fill their respective stadiums (basketball arenas) as much as if not more than the basketball teams that co-occupy them.

Sounds to me like it is already flourishing. Just you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet.

If the league continues to gain exposure (video games, team merchandise in sports stores, national TV, etc.), and more NFL teams start investing in AFL francises, then it does have a chance of flourishing. Right now, the biggest knock is the rules are so drastically different than the rules we've all come to know watching the regular version of the game. It looks and feels the same, but it doesn't act the same. Exposure will help with it gaining popularity.

the reality is it wont flourish but it gives some players a chance to step their game up and try out for an NFL team

It sure does look like it would be a blast to play. Its not bad for an off season thing to watch with maybe a cold one. I think its found its niche nicely. Now can I tell you who won last or this year? Hell no.

Arena Football is in the same category in America as soccer and the WNBA

I think it will stay just about as big as it is now, a good little thing to watch during the offseason, nothing more.
