I don't think either part has any advantage over the other. It's a never-ending debate if anyone says or thinks differently...why not just stop beating ourselves over the heads and just accept the fact that they're different, and neither one is "better" than the other.

The polarization--which I agree is deplorable--isn't between honest conservatives and liberals.
You have a small portion of the population (the "right-wing/religous right' that is the problem. Most of these people are not "bad"--simply manipulated. The leader ship of this group is the probblem--the seek to force their agenda down everyone elses throats, with no willingness to work to gether for the good of the country. That is not their goal--power and control is their objective.
You see it daily in the tactics of their leaders--especiallly Bush, Cheney, and their accomplices.
When they are forced out of power, you'll see a lot more cooperation and bipartisanship. Not until.

"Greg S." said it perfectly.
Dems are so concerned about "equality" they end up making a lot people poorer in a misguided attempt to help the poor.
For example, right now Hillary and other Dems are trying to push Socialized medicine. Since 85% of people have adequate health care coverage, the Dems are saying that 85% of the people should suffer to benefit 15% without coverage. Wouldn't it make more sense to just give additional tax credits to poor people so that the cost of health insurance was not such a major concern?
(By the way, think of how many of those 15% squander their money on non-essentials, week after week? Ever seen supposedly "poor" people, where the women obviously spend tons of money in the beauty parlor and sport a $50 nail job, while the guys have $200 designer sports shoes, gold chains and Cazal frames? A lot of people who don't have health insurance don't have it because it is low on their list of priorities. Well, responsible people should not have to suffer to indulge their irresponsibility)
And where will the money come from to support a boondoggle such as Socialized medicine? From higher taxes that hurt the responsible middle class who don't squander money they can't afford to spend. As Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples' money to spend."

España agradable … Liberal and conservative are obscure political suggestions. There are, in reality, no Liberal, or Conservative events. The Democrats, often, want greater open, basically, customer friendly, equivalent rights and forward thinking. hence, they're labeled liberal. (think of, Don Quixote.) The Republicans disdain minorities, love the grasping wealthy (and want to maintain giving them greater tax cuts), react to the destiny an identical way a vampire reacts to a crucifix and are stimulated by shock. hence, they're greater in song with conservatism. (think of Generalismo Francisco Franco.) greater often than not, the Republicans fall for bs using fact they're stimulated by shock. concern is a void, an vacancy, it stands for not something. consequently, human beings fall for it. ¿Y, además, tanto como amo España, por qué usted le piensa está en posición a ser condescendiente?

I don't understand a lot of the positions on both sides. Some ideals are way outdated, while some are too fast changing. I think the country needs to move to a moderate governing standard.
Politicians don't really care about issues. They just want to be re-elected. Read The Future of Freedom by Zakaria. He explains they are less responsive to public issues by being more responsive to the public's requests. Because we can see their voting records they will vote in the direction that will get them re-elected without really solving the problem.

Thanks to Bush's tax cuts, the dow jones surpassed 1400 today. Our economy's growing, unemployment is dropping and our quality of life is improving as the competition from low taxes is sparking innovation in every way.
Conservatives accomplish things, democrats degrade everything in the name of "equality"
