When you turn on the A/C, you should hear the engine cooling fans come on immediately thereafter. If the A/C is running and the engine cooling fans are not, it will overheat the engine. Check the cooling fans, and also the coolant level.

yes sir these other guys or right, however regardless of extra strain on the engine it still shouldnt run hot. the problem is low fluid level probably the heater control valve. you have a leak or you dont have freon in your car just water. the car does run harder with the ac on. so it can possibly be your thermostat, water pump or the tempature sensor.

It puts an additional drag on the engine, check you fluid in the radiator it might be low

Hot or hotter; If it is hot then you have a problem with your cooling system.

Because you are using more energy to run the A/C ! It cools the cabin it doesn't cool the engine !!!!!
