No, raise it to 21.

If you're going to vote, you should at least be able to drown your sorrows in booze after the results come in.

B. Kevorkian... that was a brilliantly-phrased answer.

I do not think they should lower it either. Honestly, most 18 year olds this day and age could care less about politics. It requires a bit of maturity to digest the multi-faceted issues, along with a knowledge on current events that many teens don't have.

I'll say this-
When I turned 18, I didn't know a darn thing. But it was the first time in my life that I began to care, to appreciate the power that those we vote for yield.
I'm 21 now, and I am much "wiser but sadder". I now think it is pivotal to vote for him instead of him... what I mean is that I am passionate now about it.
I think a lot of people under or around 18 are ignorant on the issues, for example I heard the absolute worst reasons in the last election as to why people were voting a certain way, with utter ignorance to other issues. But you'll hear that from people older than 18 also :-)

I think the best bet is to put a little political quiz on the ballots to make sure people know the candidates and what they are voting for. If you pass, you get to vote, if not... too bad!

no. i sometimes think that 18 is too young, and i'm 19 myself. besides the younger voters usually have a lower turn out rate compared to other groups, so lowering the voting age will not make any significant change.

I think the voting age should remain at 21 years old. I also believe that there should be exceptions to the rule such as, if you are a member of any U.S. armed force you should be able to vote.

There should also be a mandatory test given to potential voters that simply tests their ability to reason, read and comprehend and the voting pamphlet should be in English only.

But that's just MY opinion.
