What if you put your head so far up your butt that it came out your mouth -- would you warp into another dimension?

Well, 450,000 feet is about 15.5 times the height of Mt Everest, or over 85 miles high. I think it would be difficult to imagine a cliff that high, certainly not on the Earth.

The Troposphere, that portion of the atmosphere closest to us, extends about 15 miles high. This is far higher than most planes can fly. The highest that any research craft has been able to reach is between 80,000 and 100,000 feet. 450,000 feet would place you beyond the Stratopause, well into the Mesosphere. At these heights atmospheric pressures are so low that you would likely explode just being on top of that cliff.

But if one could somehow survive being on top of this cliff, and if one were to jump off such a cliff I would expect the first thing to happen is significant combustion as a result of reentering the atmosphere. You would be a flaming ball of fire, losing mass on the way down. I would expect the coriolous effect to pull you into the cliff face and drag you along it. Depending upon what this cliff were made of, whatever would be left of you would be completely shredded.

Since terminal velocity for a person in free fall is about 125 MPH you would be burning, falling and dragging yourself along this cliff for about 40 minutes. I'd say you would be a bloody, pulpy mass after the first three or four minutes, would continue to lose blood and volume throughout the fall so that by the time you reached the fan there would be little, if anything left of you. You might even be so small that the fan would blow you back up into the air so you can continually fall over and over again.

Interesting question. If you try it please do let us know what happens.

It depends on how fast the fan is blowing. If the fan is blowing up at a greater speed or velocity than the fall, then you may find a moment of equilibrium. This "pause" only happens if the fan is blowing perfectly straight with no cross wind & if you are in the exact middle of the fan. Also, you may have to wear 80's style, hyper colored, break dancing, clothing with flaps around the arms and legs.

Here are a few people that have done this & they made a video right at the end of their 450,000 foot fall:

Enjoy.

Okay your question is fun. Its clearly not possible to fall off a 450,000 ft cliff you would be in space. You would all be hanging out with the space station.

But to answer your question. Lets say this is possible. You will go extremely fast at the first. Maybe 20,000 miles an hour. When you hit the air you would burst into flames because of the wind resistance. You wouldnt even hit the fan. You would be nothing at 50,000 feet.

Okay another senario lets say we have air for 450,000 feet you will hit termal velocity and you will hit the fan at around 200 miles per hour. You would hit at the same speed if you jumped from 15 stories.

Once you hit terminal velocity you arent going to go faster regardless if you fall 450,000 feet or 1,000 feet.

No, you wouldn't explode. You would collide with the fan. And you couldn't be exploding as well because an explosion is the opposite of a collision (in physics- look it up). Besides, what are the chances you would hit the damned fan? I mean let's be serious here - fans aren't that big. Even if it were huge, your aim from 450 000 feet I'm gonna say isn't that great.

i think of it quite is with regard to the 10th time i'm listening to this city legend. Its continuously the comparable style of loss of life yet with distinctive actors. the 1st time I heard this, i think of it grow to be Jeff Goldblum and then Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks. Do each and every physique a want and in case you examine/hear the word "fell off a 60 feet. cliff in New Zealand", then its a hoax and shop it to your self.

Your body would burn up re-entering the Earth's atmosphere. That's what would happen falling from your metaphorical 85 mile high cliff.

The height you're suggesting is around 85miles. That is above atmospheric levels. You would probably be burned up in reentry; still, that would be a spectacular way to die.

no, and you only need to fall for 6 seconds which is about 500 feet to reach full speed, which is 120 mph ya constance
