Dear Iraq Veterans,

I am a liberal democrat, But i completely support you and your commitment to honor your orders. I am sorry you had to get sent to this war.

I wish you lots of success, and am glad you get to seee your families.

I have a question. How do you feel about this war, about the administaration, and the current state of the U.S.?

You're sorry? That's funny, because I'm not. Can I make it any clearer than that?

I think it's a huge shame. You have awesome Soldiers deploying for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rotations to keep the tempo going. Many are being deployed again with injuries such as PTSD. Some of those I deployed with earlier on have been home less than a year total since 2003. This administration has allowed a backdoor draft (stop loss and recall of the IRR) to keep the discontent to a minimum.

Many Soldiers don't speak their mind about this. In part, because most of them are deployed again, and politics go out the door when you hit the ground.

I went to a memorial while I was deployed, and after I watched gwb on CNN - spewing more lies. It infuriated me so much I didn't have the stomach to eat anymore.

I am out of the service now. I bought a motorcycle when I returned from deployment (something I have always wanted to do). I ride with other vets. Something I never would have done a few years back. In some ways I feel like a ghost...a wanderer. Severe PTSD and guilt are only a few of the things I deal with.

I am proud of my service, deployed twice and made it back. Now I am doing what I wish others would have done for me when I was deployed... Speak out against this corrupt administration and this war. I support my troops 100%, and my efforts will in part payback what was lost to all of us.

Is your thinking that we would choose not to serve in hazardous duty if not for our duty to follow orders? You might support us, but you do not understand us. How I feel about the war is irrelevant, we're there now. The current administration and its shortcomings whether perceived or real is just a trade-off from the last one whether you would like to admit it or not. Lies, deciet, cover-ups, failure to act in the best interest of our country, etc....Did we not hear all of this from the last adminstration? The one before? and before? I have a nagging suspicion will see it in the next administration as well. As far as affairs back in the States? I find it ironic that while we fight insurgents who cross Iraq's borders effortlessly, it offers no insight to our elected officials what is happening on our own border. When I came home from deployment, I was bombarded with Mexican flags flying proudly over the land that so many sacrifice so much for. I don't remember seeing Mexican troops overseas, much less in any conflict in recent history, so I fail to understand why it is being stitched to the back of the American flag. I work with men and women from latin countries who are earning their citizenship through service and sacrifice and while they are proud of their country, they wear their adoptive country's ensign with pride. I watch as bipartisan bickering prevails on the news and media while nothing of substance is being done to make any significant process on the issues that are in need of help (health care, immigration, social security, education). What's worse is the fact that all the voters can do is claim a monicker (liberal, conservative, republican, democrat, etc...) so that we've been neatly classified into a few groups and have made it easier for the politicians to target and keep us polarized. Notice that the politicians rarely change. What we end up with is the same government that is old, out of touch, rich, and totally dependent on each other to stay in power. I'm glad you support us and I encourage you to take it a step further. If you see a man/woman in uniform, stop them and thank them. It means alot and they all deserve it. But I wouldn't advise you to debate the merits of the war with them. Thanks for the support.

Umm, just to let you know. Military officers are not permitted to express their views about the war in that sort of context or directly/indirectly criticize their commander in chief. Just FYI
