Lately Ive found myself falling asleep all the time, mainly in the afternoon, but sometimes after i've only been awake a few hours. The prob is it comes on SO suddenly, within minutes im asleep, i literally am overcome by tiredness and cannot keep my eyes open. I sleep well, 8hours a night normally but this is happening at work, when im out, when im driving too...which worries me i have to pull over n get food n drink n slap myself. its physically imposs 2 open my eyes more than a slight bit.
Also i am so exhausted i cant actually move my body, its like if my bed was on fire i dont feel i even would have enough energy to get out of it, i cant move. i was tested before for diabities, thyroid gland etc, with no results. any ideas? its actually upsetting me as i work from home and keep losing money.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I had the same problem! It was so weird and disconcerting, I would be walking along thinking "If I could just close my eyes for a minute" and then I would! Slept on my 10 minute breaks, slept on my lunches, would think about going back to sleep right when I got up! My doctor finally sent me to a neurologist and she diagnosed me with Narcolepsy! She prescribed me a drug called Provigil, and it has been a lifesaver. So I'd see your doctor again, and be very clear that you need help with this!

I would suggest that you investigate your hormone balance. How many of your symptoms (other problems) are on Miriam Brazel's list. This is the link to my web page regarding hormone tests and Miriam Brazel's page

1 do an on line hormone test http://www.johnleemd.com/store/resource_hormonetest.html
2 do an appropriate saliva test and obtain results
3 get the results & discuss with a NPIS doctor or educate your GP/MD
search the web for “natural progesterone fatigue” and you find pages such as this
http://www.natural-progesterone-advisory-network.com/fibromyalgia-and-natural-progesterone.php
You lack energy because while oestrogen dominant the message to the body is convert excess food to fat. Only when your hormones are in balance can the food and fat be used as energy.
I hope this sets you along the path to recovery

Mr. Howe from Gilligan's Island was asked what do wealthy people do all day? He said " Snooze, and Doze, Snooze, and Doze " So maybe that's the problem. You need something to do or you simply fall asleep out of boredom. Force yourself to get up and take a walk. You will feel better. :)

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/RIr7O
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

two possibilities here, Narcolepsy, and there are medications for that, or Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Either diagnosis is made with a sleep study. Talk to your doctor quick before you do pass out at the wheel.

Maybe you're short of iron. Get a bloodtest from your doctor. results take about 2 days and if so they'll give you some iron tablets. Good luck.

I have diabetes and get very tired when my sugar is high. I can fall asleep pretty fast when that's the case.
Maybe you should have yourself checked again.
