In France, the people are required to pay a 40% co-pay for their free medical care. In addition to huge taxes for the 60%. No thanks. Here of course, the working class would be forced to pay the 40% for the lazy class, as well as taxes for the other 60% and the huge federal agency and the greedy insurance companies who will run it. And the elites will be exempted and enjoy the good health care they have now.

Universal healthcare will cause serious problems for the United States. Pharmaceutical companies will no longer have a reason to develop new drugs, because of a drop in profits without any less risk of lawsuit. It's the million-dollar lawsuits that these companies fear that makes the drugs we pay for expensive.
Further, if you look to Canada, where universal healthcare is already in place, you find that many Canadians cross the border for surgery because the doctors over here are so much better. This is because the pay here is better, which is advantageous again because of the large risk of overblown malpractice lawsuits.
I think the advancements in medicine that we have seen in the last decade will be the last in a long while. The best thing that can be done, and I'm sure you've guessed I'd say this already, is privatize social security.

If there were universal healthcare in the unites states,
drug sales would increase, not decrease (naturally, because more people are going to doctors)
the doctors prescribe the drugs, meaning more drug prescriptions, meaning more money going to the makers of the drugs
doctors absolutely will not agree to a pay cut, not like that would be an issue anyway, tax money for the healthcare system would primarily go to doctors (where else would the healthcare money go)
and as long as there are laws being broken, lawyers will do anything they can to help clients sue and make them money

Is it a "welfare program" when we are basically being charged our premiums with the tax increase that will have to put in place? In order for the a state run health care system to work in this country the government would have to own the hospitals, otherwise they are still free enterprise, and can opt not to accept the state run health insurance. Some already do not accept it. Lawyers will never stop suing, as long as there is someone with deep pockets, and no laws in place capping the amount of the awards.

It is coming because of the cost of medical care these days, What will have to happen is strick price and wage controls as well.
When it does the drug companies, the doctors, and hospitals will have only themselves to blame because of their greed.

I'd like to know how many Americans go to Canada for necessary medical care.
But you're right. Your predictions are pretty spot on, I believe.
