There is no need to put jumper cables on the battery. Here's a simple way to see if your battery is working: turn on your hazard lights. IF they are flashing the battery is good. IF they don't come on the battery is dead. If the battery is good here are several reasons why your car wont' start: 1) starter has died (time to get a new one), 2) a blown head gasket

How do you know the battery is good? There could be a number of things wrong. Parts deteriorate even when they aren't being used.

How do you know your battery is good? Please don't remove battery cable with engine running. This could fry your computer if it is a newer car. It might be the battery though.
