Tonight's All-Night Senate Iraq Debate: Air America's Idea

By Nancy Scola on July 17, 2007 - 6:58pm
What you're seeing on Capitol Hill tonight was Air America's doing. Okay, maybe that's overstating it a bit. Harry Reid's decision to keep the Senate in session overnight for a marathon 30 hour session comes after months of collective organizing and agitating. Progressives from all over the place have been pushing for Democrats on the Hill to make clear to the world that it has been Republicans that have been using just the threat of filibuster to block up-or-down votes on Iraq, spending, and more.

all this while it is actually the dems are blocking the passage of a defense bill that the men on the ground need passed to have the things they need to protect us not just in iraq but throughout the world. This was an amendment that didnt go through the committee chanels not the bill. Thats a pretty sick game to be playing with the lives of our men and women.

What all nighter? Makmoud Al-Reid was in bed by midnight with a glass of warm milk and his Nancy Pelosi doll.

Show? Yes, when the campaigning begins for 2008, they will use(show) the Republicans position on supporting a failed war against them. By the polls, Americans no longer support this war, especially now that it is known that Sadam DID not attack us, nor did he have WMD's. It will be bye, bye Republicans.

Don't sell the Democrats short, they are NOT stupid.

No, it was a filibuster. It put the Republican's opposition to bringing back the troops on the record, and it got a new Republican vote to end the war: Sen. Susan Collins.
