I dont fight dogs or anything of that nature, but why is it such a big deal? Dog fighting rings are everywhere. So why make a big deal out of this one? Is the media going to show every dog fighting ring that gets busted on tv?

I know that it is illegal. I just dont think that it is that beg of a deal. More time could be spent going after murderers than dog fighters. Just my opinion. That's all.

No the media will not show every dog fighting ring that gets busted because the media works on sensationalism. I don't know or care a toss who he is but from the posts it is clear that he is a celebrity of sorts.

My problem with this character is that with fame comes responsibility. There are children and other gullible people out there that view him as an icon . So if it is OK for him to do this then it is also, by deduction, OK for us to do the same thing. Cruelty to animals is totally unacceptable and it just goes to show what type of person he really is. Go figure. Hope that answers your questions.

If any dog fighting ring is discovered and abuses like those reported have occurred then justice should be applied hard to anyone found guilty of such heinous act.s. If Joe Blow from Anytown USA did it, it wouldn't be such a news worthy item even though the story is just as bad. When someone like VICK (the Michael Jordan of football) does it, it is very much news worthy. If found guilty of these felony charges, VICK will have ruined his life and get what he deserves and then maybe it will bring attention to the abuse that he and other a$$holes engage in for fun.

Of course it's animal abuse participating in a dog fight, weather you care or not it's still very cruel and illegal in most states. The reason it's a big deal is due to Vick being a public figure, he's a professional athlete and someone kids look up to as a role model due to his position. He should act more responsible considering he's in the public eye, fame and fortune go hand and hand with responsibility. Dog fighting is never a good or acceptable thing to do in our society today, especially when such a public figure who makes his living off fans disappointes them like that.

Of course not...anymore than the media makes a big deal of every driver convicted of DUI...but did show Paris Hilton as much as possible.

To answer your question:
The Feds care that Vick was running a dog fighting operation because it is illegal.
The media and the public care about it because Vick is a famous athlete. So yes...when Michael Vick does it, it's big news...unlike when Joe Schmidlap does it. That's just the way things are...like it or not.

Obviously you didn't get the facts. He did more than fight dogs. The dogs that lost a fight that he was betting for, they were hanged, drowned and shot. If you don't think that is a big deal than you have a problem. Animal cruelty is a felony and now he has several counts of it. It serves him right! Also they should publisize anything bad that he does because he is suppose to be a role model and I am sure the AFL does not approve or want to be associated with that type of cruel, inforgivable behavior!

Because he is a celebrity. You are right this happens all the time and people get busted for it all the time. But the fact you have a superstar athlete involved makes it public news. The same thing happens anytime Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears enters rehab. How many people go to rehab every day and you never hear about. Our society is celebrity focused and that is what sells papers.

They are making an example of vick but have you seen the videos? These dogs are trained to bill, kill the other dog and if they dont kill they get killed. Its about the animals, and vick is the first celebrity to get caught so, they are going to make a big deal out of it.

Personally anyone caught doing something like this deserves to have all their assets confiscated, sold at public auction while he is flogged, beaten, electrocuted as those animals were then just before death send his dumb @ss to prison to serve 10 years with no parole. So no I don't care if he is famous he is still a self serving egotistical idiot and a poor excuse as a human being.
