Hey Mike,
Where do you get the idea for this question Mike, Really it is very interesting and deep study type, isn't it?
Lets turn some history pages and see what happened exactly and who was how and what educated. For your first question Woodrow Wilson get the Doctorate from Johns Hopkins University. Wilson also served on the faculties of Bryn Mawr College and Wesleyan University (where he also coached the football team) before joining the Princeton faculty as professor of jurisprudence and political economy in 1890. While there, he was one of the faculty members of the short-lived coordinate college, Evelyn College for Women.
Now for your second question that have a huge impact that education is not everything to become something and the famous people have shown that. Andrew Jackson, Zachary Taylor, Millard Fillmore, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson and Grover Cleveland never gone to any school. But we all know how the Lincoln achieved glory and Honor as some of the best presidents US had.
So Mike thats all for me to answer, hope it helps.

Woodrow Wilson is the only US President to recieve a PhD.
"After graduation from Princeton in 1879, Wilson studied law at the University of Virginia, with the hope that law would lead to politics. Two years of humdrum legal practice in Atlanta, Georgia, disillusioned him, and he abandoned his law career for graduate study in government and history at Johns Hopkins University, where in 1886 he received a Ph.D.; he was the only president to earn that degree."

Pretty sure Woodrow Wilson did. He came from academia to the White House.
Indeed, just checked. He had a PhD from Johns Hopkins.

I believe that only two were A students. Vast majority of them were home schooled.
