I had the same prob with my 99 Firebird. There is a small leak some were in one of the lines. Look, you say your A/C lasted two months then got hot again. Me personally I would rather charge it every two months then pay $500+. Here is what I learned. Pop your hood and locate your a/c compressor turn your car on and put the a/c on max cool, look under the hood again and see if the a/c compressor clutch starts spinning. If it spins your car will easily take refrigerant from one of those cans sold at the auto parts store that are tall and come with the hose already attached. Get the one with stop leak and follow the directions. If the clutch doesn't spin you have two options/issues. You will have to use the actually small 134 refrigerant cans with the hose kit as the other I mentioned before will not have enough pressure to kick your pressure switch and allow the clutch to spin. See if your clutch doesn't spin the a/c wont take freon. If this doesn't work your last option is to find the pressure switch remove it and short it out using a wire, this will sometimes force the clutch to spin. Then you can try to fill. Remember though this is only a temp fix and the a/c may only last a couple months before you have to go spend another $5-10 on more refrigerant. If you have any more questions feel free to email me I will help the best I can. If your un-comfortable with all this pay the $ and see a repair man. Good luck.

Join the club - my Grand Am just did the same thing last week. My mechanic told me it was my evaporator but I don't have the $ to fix it right now. Your problem might just be a small leak that is allowing the freon to seep out slowly until there is none left.

I had the same thing happen to mine -on vacation. So I suffered with it only to find out it was the "cabin filter". It cost $35 installed and was sooo worth it. But take it to the dealer or a local A.C. shop to make sure. If it was just charged then it shouldn't have leaked out already. Good Luck.

I would have leak detector put in it before you spend too much more money. If A/C hose, you will still need to have the system pumped down and charged. Freon is so expensive these days.

Sounds like you have a leak and have lost refrigerant. A hard to find leak is the compressor seal near the engine block.

maybe the compressor is not working you can try that or go get 134a from and part store and put that in it . it comes with the attachments and everything.the compressor being that it would be new will be kinda high but try to go to a juck yard and find a wrecked car and get theres . if it does not work then take it back and get another one till you get one that does work.

Take to a service station, they will inject dye in the system. Pressurize, find the leak.

dont try and fix it yourself... go to a mech. and have it looked at. there are to many things that can go wrong in the ac unit so instead of spending 000's and countless days tryin new things, save your self money and time and have the pros look at it and fix it.

It needs to be looked at. It may need another charge, or another central unit. Price: 200-1500$
