Even if he is not an owner any longer, don't tell me he doesn't have an allegience to current owners over ballplayers. He is standoffish on any controversial topic, until you back him into a corner. He is just an awful commish and baseball needs to get rid of him. If being a car salesman and making enough money to buy a team is the only experience you need, then anybody with enough money to purchase a team can eventually sell it and become the commish. Look at him, do you think the guy ever tied on a pair of cleats? I wonder.

Something is really rotten in Denmark! (and Milwaukee)

Craig S. I know you have alot of sports knowledge from previous answers I received from you. So I always take your answers seriously. (basketball right?)

However I think your off the mark here, Especially the weaselly move he made by making his daughter owner so he could take the helm.

His hand was forced into making the game more fan friendly, after the 94 strike.

He created the live ball era by treating fans to every foul ball, dirty ball, end of inning ball, etc. a ball doesn't stay in the game for more than one batter any longer. New balls travel farther, believe me I know.

I stick to my guns here, he's gotta go.

And if you think he made all those decisions guess again?

Of course he has an allegiance to the owners - he works for them! What would you expect from him?

During Selig's reign, attendance and revenues have reached unprecedented heights. He introduced the wildcard playoff team, which has helped to sustain interest of more teams late in the season, helped foster local rivalries and fan interest through the introduction of interleague play, and made the All-Star game count by having it determine home field advantage in the World Series. I'm not a big fan of that last one, but it seems to work.

Selig might not be all that popular with fans, but we don't pay his salary. As I've said before, he only has to listen to fans insofar as what we say or feel affects the revenues of his sport. Considering the financial state of the game, and the fact that Selig works for the men most benefiting from the increased revenues, I'd have to say he's doing an excellent job.

Rob - You're right to stick to your guns - I might disagree, but that doesn't make me right and you wrong. And I will concede that Wendy should not have been given the position she had simply for being in the right family. That's nepotism at its worst. As a fan I won't be sorry to see him go, but I'd he very happy with him right now if I owned a team.

Craig is on the mark -- whatever one thinks of Seligula (and that nickname alone should clue in anyone to my opinions of him), his initiatives have made PILES of money for MLB. That's what the owners want, and that's what he's delivered; they have no significant complaints with his work.

The commissioner has ALWAYS been the owners' hired gun. The first, Landis, had a lifetime contract and more license because, at the time, the owners needed the appearance of an impartial overlord. That hasn't been true since Landis' term. Selig simply has disposed with that nonsensical cover story and embraced his CEO-type role outright.

C'mon Rob C, you don't have to blow compliments all over Selig, be honest in your assessment of the boy. Maybe he's not the brightest, but he did make over a million selling used cars. Can't you trust a used car salesman? Here, let me show you this little beauty over here, was only driven.................
