When can I take new baby to the pool, or when do babies enroll in swimming lessons? There's a kiddie pool where I live and was considering taking baby in late afternoons.

I would recommend waiting until they can at least support their head without a problem.

Swim diapers don't come smaller than 16 lbs. My eight month olds (twins) have just hit 16 lbs and they love our pool, but we didn't take them in until they were 7 months because they couldn't go in any of those floating childs seats and we didn't want to hold them the entire time.

Hmm, how old is your baby? I took mine to the kiddie pool (at a resort) for the first time when he was 7 months old and he loved it.

I would be very, very wary of excess sun exposure. Also, there are a lot of viruses (ECHO, enteroviruses) spread in summer pools.
