There are several things that can cause this. The most common one I see at my garage is a bad wheel speed sensor. It could also be a bad "tone" ring on the CV (axle) shaft. There are several others, but these are the most common that I see.

if your trac and abs lights are on, there will be a code stored, telling where to look for system repairs, not sure where you took your car to be checked, but possibly ask them if there was a code stored , in almost every case where the dash warning light is on, a diagnostic trouble code is set, if you dont believe the first garage, take it to another and explain to them what you were told, they may just look for a code to show you how compitent they are, and in return, ask for the repair job, dont know what vehical you drive, but there are many reasons for those lights to come on, so can't guess.

Have the code read, and replace the bad wheel sensor.
