factor it by moving the (a - b) out since it is the same factor of r and s in the initial equation:
(a - b)r - (a - b)s =
(a - b)(r - s)

of if you need to multiply it out:
(a - b)r - (a - b)s =
ra - rb -(sa - sb) =
ra - rb - sa + sb
