I am 38 weeks pregnant and my fiance will only be here for 4 weeks until he has to go back to college for 3 more months, 8 hours away, and I would love for him to be here for the first month of our baby's life. I need anything that will help induce labor naturally. My doctor is going to induce me next thursday if my cervix is thinned and softened enough that he thinks it will work! HELP!!

I would not want to be induced either if I could avoid it!

Walking is definitely one of the best things you can do. You can also take Red Raspberry Leaf tablets in conjunction with Evening Primrose Oil daily to help strengthen and tone the uterus for labor. It will also encourage you to have more Braxton-Hicks contractions which in turn dilate and efface the cervix.

Castor oil is an old-fashioned remedy, but you would need to ask your doctor or midwife how much to take. But for many women it does NOT work and ends up giving them diarrhea, nausea and stomach cramps.

Other methods are breast stimulation to produce the hormone oxytocin (by hand or with a pump), intercourse and eating very spicy foods.

I hope you will be holding your baby very soon.

All the best to you!

Listen I gave birth to my now 8 month old son at 38 wks and 4 days. I squeezed and pinched my nipples as suggested by my Midwife. This action causes your uterus to clench as if you were breast feeding which should start your labor. You could also have some very satisfying vigorous sex to induce it after you have done the pinch action.

Good Luck Dear and Congrats!

You can try walking. It didn't work for me but hey! My husband and I had sex and it worked for two out of three of our babies!. I don't want to put to much info on here * but I will say deeper penetration is better! :) I wish you the best of luck! If all else fails, just be patient eventually the baby will come out, even if your fiance only gets to spend 3 weeks w/you all instead of 4.

Have sex. There's a hormone in the mans semen that helps induce labor. When the doctors induce you for say, going overdue, they use an artifical form of the mans hormone.

My sister in law tried castor oil but that didn't really help. I did the bumpy road method where you just pick the bumpiest road imaginable and drive it til the contractions come closer. also there is a pressure point in your hand located between the thrumb and bottom part of your palm that if pushed enough and hard enough is said to induce contractions!!!! Good luck!!!

My lamaze teacher and my sister in law who has had four kids swear by taking a walk. Oh, you guys are going to love this one. My friends were in the same situation, except he was in the military. They say they brought it on by having sex. I have also read this in a magazine. Of course that is if your doctor says sex is still OK. Good luck and congratulations.
