Your metabolism might have slowed down since the last baby and that (combined with a little less morning sickness) could be why you are gaining more weight this time. Also, my midwife told me there is a lot of "water weight" gained at the beginning of the pregnancy - amniotic fluid and a 50% increase in mom's blood volume.
Or....is it possible you're having twins??

That's definitely not normal, you need to slow down the weight gain. Usually in the first trimester people lose weight, or gain a few pounds, but not 10. It should not be called eating for two. All you need in a day is an extra 300 calories for the baby, not eating whatever you want. And no, even if you were pregnant with twins, you still wouldn't have gained this much. The baby is the size of a lima bean, certainly not big enough to cause that much weight gain.

Lets first talk about the 64 ounces of water. As you know or should know that the 64 oz of H2O per day theory has been revised as it can cause electrolite imbalance. The 10 pounds in 6 weeks? I was right there with you girl I gained every ounce of my pregnancy weight by the 5th month and didnt gain a single ounce afterwards! With my first child I gained 60 pounds! With my second I gained 34 every pregnancy is different. If your dr feels you are gaining to fast if he's any good he'll tell you otherwise dont worry about it

actually u gain more weight at the first three weeks then you start to gain watter wait my best answer would be, fruit, a lot of people think oh i am eating for 2 no that is not the case the baby is not chopping down that donut with you only getting the nutrients from the donut, so always remember that the more active you r the less weight you will gain you need to try walking every day,, plus that helps out a lot with labor, so when you get the urge for something sweet try to find some sweet fruit , it works every time,, and a lot of people get hunger and thirst pains confused don't over eat take a few drinks of something first if that helps you are not hunger ,, so just watch your intake of the wrong food lots of veggies and lots of watter and lots of fruit,, hope this helps

Talk to your doctor. In general pregnant women should have way more than 1200 calories a day and STILL gain weight steadily, but 10 pounds at that amount of calorie intake seems strange. Make sure you tell him this, and your exercise plan. Keep a record for them of what you eat for a couple of days before you go in so he can advise you beyond just saying the typical "make sure your eating your servings of fruits and vegetables bla bla bla..." If you used to be overweight maybe its just the way your body is, and its way of reacting to your pregnancy is "Oh I have to gain fat storage to support this new change!" Many women loose their apetite, but maybe you really are eating high carbs when you actually do eat and so your body is hanging onto the calories more.

You are probably retaining alot of water. I did at first and was SO bloated and miserable. It will pass in a few weeks. Just keep up the good work as far as exercise and eating healthy and you will be just fine. Congratulations on the baby!

i think that you started out very slim, so it is expected that you would show sooner, but 10lbs? maybe your going to have twins or are off on your pre-pregnancy weight? i don't know, there are so many reasons that could cause this, continue to excercise and eat healthy and you should be fine.
congrats and good luck

wow.Um hate to say it but you're probably going to be one to gain alot of weight. But the bright side is that you already have good eating and excersizing habits so it wil be easier for you to get back into the routine to lose it!
