I love to read but English language books are hard to come by where I live and expensive, even second-hand. However, I try to choose books I can read again and again. You're never alone with a good book. Reading online is NOT the same as curling up in bed or in a comfy chair with a cuppa and a book.

I like hand quilting, making tops and quilting them, but materials are not easy to find here and I don't have the proper equipment. I have to wing it a lot. That makes me feel "connected" to women throughout history who ALSO had to make do with what there was, which was how quilting got started. You make something beautiful out of scraps. I really enjoy it, it's relaxing and I can think or listen to Radio 4 while I work. It doesn't matter so much about the expense of the materials because doing all the sewing and quilting by hand takes a long time so the fun lasts longer.

I enjoy watching DVDs, and have a pretty good collection. I really enjoy the commentaries and other "extras." The only "downside" is, as sure as I sit down to the type of movie you hate to interrupt, the phone will ring or someone will show up!

Reading. The plus side: I learn new things, from new places, about interesting people.

The minus side: I never get my laundry done. One load and it's forgotten because I'm always in the middle of a good spot in the book.

Hiya. I have a hobby. I play guitar and write my own songs. I started playing when I was 15, and I'm now 24. I soppose ther's many advantages. At times, it has kept me sane. I hate waiting for things, so I usually play when I'm bored to stop me from pacing the house. I'm not a big fan of tele.I started getting obsessed with it just after I started playing when I was pregnant. I spent a lot of time on my own so it kept me company in a way. I'd always written little verses since as long as I can remember so learning guitar gave me a reason to carry on doing it. I don't play as much lately as I have got too much going on, But I don't think I'll ever stop. I'd crack up if I didnt own a guitar. No disadvantages spring to mind, other than when I'm stuck on how to play something, but that just usually drives me to play it more. I'll probably be buried with my guitar. xxxxx

I have quite a few hobbies, one of them I find very absorbing is cross stitch.
Plus side - it feeds the soul,
Down side - it doesn't feed the body.
I get so carried away then get so hungry I don't bother to cook a proper meal.

Crafting. I used to make jewellery, then I got into cardmaking, and now I have a baby I want to start scrapbooking so that I can put all his pictures together. Only problem is... where do I get the time from?
Craft supplies can be quite expensive so you have to shop around. and you need space for all your things. I suppose cardmaking is not so bad cos shop-bought cards can be expensive so you save a bit of money there.

I have a wood shop out back and enjoy building things out of wood for my wife - and others. Down side is that I have to CLEAN the shop after each project or the next project won't be as much fun.
