Depends how you found out about the position. IF your friend told you about because she was applying then you may want to consider not applying or talking to her about it.

Seeing as you seem to have worked very hard to get to this job, I don't think it's right that she applied for the job too. I could understand if she had applied before she knew you had, that wouldn't really be anyone's fault that you were going for the same job. However, if she already knew, then I don't think it's that fair, especially as she already had a job (even if she didn't like it). There isn't much you can do about it now, and you did say that it looks like you are going to get it if you interview well, so I would just forget about it. I would try to find out if she applied before she knew you did, because that would make it pretty different. good luck with the interview, I really hope you get the job. :) x

Yes, because my best friend and me have a relationship that can withstand one of us getting a job over the other. No biggie. Just depends on how close you are with your best friend and if you have talked about it. =)

Yeap ! Because they might not like her and like you. And if they don't like her they are not going to hire her anyway. The same goes for you. If they don't like you they are not going to hire you anyway.
In each case they will just look for someone else.
