I had a call from a lady saying that her flowers were dead. They were as fresh as can be. I made the bouquet myself. It really upsets me to think people complain without just cause. Am I wrong to feel this way?

I think its alright to feel this way, something like what you do is a very personal thing....you give a piece of your heart to them with each piece you make.....BUT....if you dont get alot of complaints then dont worry to much about it.....

You own a florist shop?
Some people will complain no matter what you do.
Perhaps in the future you could take a picture of the bouquet before you sell it to the customer. If the date and time were written there, you could show the person the evidence of the freshness of the flowers. Then what would they have to complain about?
Some customers would make you happier if they went somewhere else to shop.

Normal. This is customer service for you. You're working with the public. When working with the public, you're going to have customers who are short, fat, tall, funny, quiet, rich, poor, etc. Sometimes there are people that are mentally ill or who are so unhappy they want to bring people down with them. It's not too difficult to know whether or not the flowers were fresh or not. If they were fresh, then they were fresh. Therefore, this woman is crazy. To continue to be good at what you do you will have to learn to not let these kinds of things bother you too much. The best would be for you to turn an unhappy person around with clever words over the phone. The more experience the better you'll get. Goodluck!

If you are running a business and supply a service to people then you must expect a few negatives. The fact that you very rarely get complaints tells me you are good at what you do. It's very very hard to please all of the people all of the time. It's not wrong to feel upset when you know you did your best but you must realize that there are people out there that just can't be satisfied. Don't get mad get better.

You own a florist? I think slavery was abolished back in the 1860s.
Seriously, you cannot please everyone. People will make mistakes and then try to blame it on you, such as forgetting to put their flowers in water and then calling you when they die.
I think it is natural to be bothered when you do your best and someone complains. I think it is just human nature. Hopefully most people will appreciate you better than this dead flower lady did.

I get like that too sometimes. I'm a performer and I always get compliments. Then the ONE bad compliment I get, even if it's not even necessarily bad, just constructive criticism...I get my panties all in a bunch. It sucks when you know you're good at something or do something right and there's still people who try to put you down about it. Some people have nothing better to do than complain.

You are right to be upset... you put your hard work into it and someone doesn't appreciate that...Maybe ask her if she'd like to come back into the shop with those flowers so you can take a look at them? Maybe she put them in warm water, or they were sitting outside too long or something!
