I will be going to Houston in late August (which is about a 2 hour drive from where I live) for management training which will last 2 weeks. I will be right around 33 weeks pregnant and want to know is it a good idea to be by myself for 2 whole weeks especially when my due date is coming up? I am going to ask my ob about it next Wed. but what would you do? I hate to seem so picky about it to my employer but my baby's health is the most important thing to me.

At 33 weeks pregnant, you still have roughly 7 weeks to go before your due date, so I think that allows you plenty of time for travel, and traveling won't be risky to your health or baby's.

You can always reach your OB by cell phone, and if any situation with the pregnancy should arise he/she could refer you to someone where you are traveling. I'm guessing your OB will probably be fine with you traveling for just 2 weeks. If you were 9 months pregnant they might advise against it though because you would be much closer to the time when you might go into labor.

Happy travels and have a wonderful pregnancy!

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and travel out of state every week for work. I have at least a 5 hour drive one way.
My doctor was not very happy that I was still doing this, especially since I usually travel alone, but we reached a compromise we could both live with : when the baby drops, I stick close to home. She hasn't dropped yet, but just as a percaution, I take a copy of my chart with me (and have since 30 weeks), I carry my hospital bag with me, and I chart all the close by hospitals on my route via computer and also with my GPS.
Definately talk to your doctor, and put your baby first. There are responsible ways to travel safely, but every pregnancy is different.
Congrats and Good Luck!! :)

I remember when i was pregnant, they told me that in the 3rd trimester, not to do alot of traveling around. You'd have to ask your doctor what they think. Depending on how your pregnancy has gone so far, you might be OK, or they might advise you to stay close to home just incase something happens. You and your doctor are going to be the best judge at this question.
Good Luck

I would say every person is different, so ask your ob and see what she/he thinks is best. I wasn't allowed to do any traveling in my third trimester, but like I said everyone is different so maybe it will be okay for you. Your boss should understand if you're not able to go. Good luck!

I think you will be perfectly fine. Houston has great doctors if you have any problems at all.

Driving 2 hours is generally a non-problem unless you've had preterm labor. If you've had preterm labor, the OB would likely make other recommendations.
