5x - 2y = 3
Transpose 5x
5x -2y - 5x = - 5x + 3
- 2y = - 5x + 3
Divide both sides of the equation by - 2
- 2y / - 2 = - 5x / - 2 + (3 / - 2)
y = 5x/2 + ( - 3/2)
Remove the parenthesis
y = 5/2x - 3/2
- - - - - -- -
The slope is 5/2

y = mx + b and ''m'' is a slope
5x -2y = 3
-2y = 3 -5x
-2y = 3 -5x
y = 3 -5x ( y = mx + b form)
----------
-2
y = 5x -3
---------
2
y = 5/2(x) -3/2
Answer => Slope = 5/2

Convert to y = mx + b form:
-2y = -5x + 3
y = (5/2)x - (3/2)
Slope is 5/2

You just convert it to y=mx +b
5/2 is your slope.
As a rule of advice the slope is almost always the number next to x. However the appropriate sign is always when x is to the right of the equal sign.
