Aka: What is a memoir in this case precisely? I've been running across it recently and am curious as I continue to search.... Please, if anyone is willing, let me know. Thank you.

A memoir is generally a book one has written about their own life...often also called an autobiography.

Most agents will ask for an Author's Bio, which are the details of a writer's publishing credits.

A SASE is a self-addressed, stamped envelope, which is used to return a manuscript back to a writer if the agent chooses to reject it.

But truly, if you don't understand what the agent wants, don't risk losing an opportunity by asking for an explanation here! Go directly to the source and ask the agent to clarify the points you don't understand. It's far better to do that than to send the agent something they've not requested or not send them something they asked for specifically.

Any agent who won't answer your question isn't one I'd want to work with!

Good luck to you. :o)

A memoir is often a short biography about the author that will either be accepted or rejected through the use of the SASE.

Such memoirs may be used in the preface or the backcover of a book.

p.s. The SASE is the self-addressed stamped envelope.

Well I've always thought SASE stood for Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. That way they can send the book back to you if they don't like it and you've paid for the shipping. I don't know what it means if it says THE SASE.
