There is alot more than goes into playing quarterback than being tall. Can you throw far and accurately? Can you remember where 5 different guys are going to be on each play? Have you ever played football before, because 16 is a bit late to try and pick up the QB position and be good.

If you have any catching skills, your height might be good for wide receiver depending on your school. If it is a small school with a small team, you are probably one of the taller players, but you might be in the middle on a large team.

Simply telling us your height doesn't really give us much to go on. I am 5'8, same height as Barry Sanders, does that mean I could go gain 20,000 yards, surpass Emmitt and be the next NFL career rushing leader? Let me know so I can quit my day job.

6'1" is a decent height for your age, but I'd say weight is just as important. Unless you grow taller, in a couple years you will be playing against lineman who are 3 or 4 inches taller than you, making the QB position a little tougher for you.
Think about other positions you are interested in or feel you would be good at, those may be better decisions for you long term.

So this means you must be in high school right? If you haven't already started and you have a good team at your school I'd say don't bother. Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. Just play what you want to play. Work out and pay attention at practice. Don't worry about how tall you are. Doesn't mean a damn thing.

Well, several positions might work, like Cornerback, safety, or as a tight end.
If you're a bit on the thin side, working as an end might work, or special teams, blocking kicks. Think Ted Hendricks. Guy was nicknamed the Mad Stork. You couldn't understand how dangerous he was, until you watched him play.

OK for QB or WR if you've got the Speed.

6'1" will be a little small for QB the older you get.
