A man who had been released from prison early for good behavior was convicted Tuesday of trying to kill a young mother and leaving her 5-year-old daughter to be eaten alive by alligators in the Everglades.
Harrel Franklin Braddy had befriended Shandelle Maycock and her daughter Quatisha. Maycock testified that Braddy went to her home in November 1998 and grew enraged when she asked him to leave.
He choked Maycock until she was unconscious and then forced her and Quatisha into his car, the woman testified. At one point, Maycock gained consciousness, grabbed the child and jumped out of the moving vehicle.
Braddy stopped, choked the woman again and put her in the trunk, she testified. Maycock never saw her daughter again. Prosecutors said Braddy then drove to a section of Interstate 75 in the Everglades known as Alligator Alley and dropped Quatisha in the water beside the road.
She was alive when alligators bit her on the head and stomach, a medical examiner said.

Only if they are released into the neighbourhoods of the Judges an Attorneys who secure their release. With rates of recidivism being what they are, early release (and in some cases release period) results in more innocent people being victimized by these monsters. We are always treated to news reports about some criminal whose “rights” are allegedly being violated. But notice the paucity of news reports about their victims.

This is not a case of Liberalism. This is a case of under funding on a major level. There are to many people in the jail system that is all. Not some higher up conspiracy of liberals vs. Conservatives. It's not about race of prejudice. Stop blaming a Hannis crime on Race and Liberals and focus on the main issue. There is to much crime and not enough places to put the bad people, end of story.

If we want less crime we need to keep criminals locked up. Period. But we also need to go down the list of crimes and take 3/4 of them off the books. Far to many laws cater to the nosy busy bodies who want to make everything illegal. The war on drugs is a good example. And the new war on alcohol is another. Send the mad mothers to china. And the puritans back to England.

The prison system isn't rehab. Criminal minded people will commit crimes whether they get out early or do the full sentence. It is more likely that the longer people stay in prison, the worse they will be when they get out. Lightweight crimnials become heavyweights in prison. A man goes in for theft and comes out a murderer. We need to change that aspect of it.

Yea, last time i checked the judge diodn't sentence someone to 20 yrs if they act like a jerk or 10 if their nice. They say 20 yrs. Good behavior is expected. Keep them in for their full term.

No I don't think good behavior should be given except in non-violent cases and in the "less serious" feloneous offenses. They should do ALL the time they are given. The rate of recividism in testemony to that!

How about NOT shortening sentace for good behavior BUT extending sentences for BAD behavior. Put him back in jail, better yet, take him out back and shoot him.
