The random caps...they feel like it...no real reason...

The dot prevents a link to a site and it prevents e-mail addresses from being spammed...

places go through things where people put e-mail addresses and spam them, if it is written as dot, it is not picked up for spam..

I haven't noticed the (dot) thing, but maybe people do that because the dot is so small, it's hard to see it and they want to make sure a person has the website correct. If you leave out one letter or symbol, the whole website won't come up. As for the capital and small letter writing, it's just an attempt to be fancy, but as far as I'm concerned, it slows things up for the writer and the reader both.

weird caps ? no idea.

but the other thing - a lot of sites now will create an active link if you write something like

google.com

And yet, a lot of those same sites will crash if people click on it. So people are writing
( dot) so you can use the address if you want to, but it guarantees that the site won't try to create an active link.
