Im looking for a gift for my husband. here are the specs:

BenQ FP202W V3 - 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1000:1, 5ms, 1680 x 1050, DVI

Will this be a good monitor? Does anyone know of any other good deals right now?
Thanks.

I'm not familiar with that brand name. But for another $15 you can go with a more mainstream brand. Below is a link for a Samsung display that has pretty much the same specs. There is a rebate involved but I really like my Samsung monitor and I have had it for over two years now with no issues. Other than the brand, the price is good.

Both are a good price for a 2" monitor. BenQ and Acer are not the best manufacturers, but they are O.K., especially at that price.

If you can go take a look at them. Look at how well they reproduce blues and reds - those tend to be poor in LCDs.

Also if you can see how well they reproduce grays. They should appear as shades of white, not shades of off-white.

Otherwise I would take the one with the higher contrast ratio. This is a measure of how black the screen can get. - because LCDs have a bright backlight and then block that light to get black there is always some light leaking though. The higher the contrast ratio the less light is coming through on the black and the better the picture will look.

$170 is a pretty good price for that BenQ monitor (new), as long as you're not paying more than $30 for shipping. For most activities, either of those monitors will perform perfectly well.

I slightly prefer the design of the BenQ to the design of the Acer, for what it's worth.

Office Max has a 19 inch for only 159 which is an awesome price as well. I just bought one yesterday. The brand is Soyo.

But overall that is a great price that you found for a 20 incher.

That is a hella nice monitor, I think it's worth it since the screen is the most important interaction device of the computer.
