I LOVE Heidi and I would use it myself if I had a gusband who agreed with me!! It is good for a child or adult. It doesn't need a nickname - it is short enough.

Not really. It's not awful, but it sounds like a child's name to me. I know several women named Heidi, and no children with that name, but still, it just seems like a little girl name to me.
I love that you're looking to use a name that represents your heritage, though. Keep looking into that. I have a German friend, who came here as an exchange student and just never left, and her name is Christiana. (I'm not sure if that was the original spelling, or if she Americanized it.) I think that's really pretty.

That is my cat's name, for two reasons.
Heidi was my favorite book when I was a child, and when we got the kitten (she was found, tiny, cold and scared of everything, under a friends car) she spent the first 3 days hiding from us! So when someone suggested Heidi (Hidey) IT WAS PERFECT FOR HER!
Yes I love the name for a baby girl too.

It is ok. Not what I would pick but not a bad name! Old fashioned and wholesome!
Can't really think of a nick name for it but names should come once you know the child a nick name should fit her personality!

i like it. its cute. I only worry about when she is grown-it sounds like a little girl, not a grown woman. Maybe use something a little more sophisticated for the middle name. Don't know what though!

Love that name! To me, it sounds playful and fun. Adorable is a better word for it.
Nicknames, besides Hidey-ho, I would probably settle for 'H'...yeah, like CSI Miami, he's cool.
