Why does it seems at times that a question or something said in general from a woman to a man or vise versa tends to lose translation and one gets mad at the other for something not even meant...Sometimes it seems like 2 totally different conversations completely..icomments?

It's noT only men vs women, it's people in general. Something I learned a very long time ago. During a discussion, NEVER say, 'YOU SAID'.......But rather, 'I HEARD YOU SAY'. You will be amazed.

I have a fridge magnet on the fridge door that reads..."My husband says I don't listen to him...or something like that"!

No there isn't a language barrier between men and women. It is a fact that neither sex really pays attention to all that their partners say. Men and women do only hear what they want to hear too.

I developed the habit many years ago, of just switching off when husband, and children were prattling on and on and on! I think too men have the same ability, and that is why it seems like we speak two different languages, because we are not really listening.

I think men have grasped the "switching off" mode much better than women, and when they are switched off, it is impossible to have a coherent conversation with them!

Only my thoughts!

It is because the two think and evaluate problems/ situations differently. Men are linear, and in most cases more logical. Things have to make sense, have a reason or a cause.
Women are more intune with their feelings and emotions. They tend to make decisions with more thought put into their and other peoples feelings.
So a guy can easily say something that makes total sense to him and feels it is just obvioulsy how it is, but pay absolutely no attention to how it would effect a persons feelings or emotions. Where a woman can say something that is very thoughtful to both herself and the person she is talking to, without it making much logical or linear sense.

It often seems like we speak a different language doesn't it? I'd like to think we don't but too often it feels as though we do.

"Do men and women speak a different language?" Not really, they just don't know how to listen properly.

I think it is more the way each *understands* what is said rather than the way it is said. So we don't speak different languages, we hear different languages.

Ever hear of the song "She said, He heard?" A song out by a comedian that explains this exact topic.
