YOUR TENNIS RANT...you have the floor...?

Question

After asking a few questions and reading lots of answers in the Tennis category, it's clear that many of us are annoyed by at least one thing in professional tennis. It could be the amount of attention Federer gets, Sharapova's on-court coaching, the Williams' sisters looks or the use of hawkeye, etc. Everyone has their gripe including me.

So here's your chance to be heard if for no other reason than the fun of it! So go ahead and RANT! Get it off your chest! Serve it up and lay into it and lets have fun reading the answers!

Please limit your answers to only ONE thing to rant about.

I'll start it off:
As big a tennis fan as I am and as attractive as Maria Sharapova and her legs may be, I can't watch her matches because of the stinking screaming she does! She and Venus both! I just turn the channel. Drives me up the freakin' wall! Stick a sock in it and just play the game for God's sake!

Well, to begin: If I wanted to watch a soft lesbian porn, I'd change the channel. My friend says Sharapova makes a noise as a smaller plane does (Sharapova airlines:)))
I wish that bloody Federer would win that bloody french and retire with his whoever girlfriend, coz I'm sick of hearing about wives, girlfriends, fiances...I DON"T care if his girlfriend is a fat cow or a nice chubby, I don't care if he likes her or would rather "do" Nadal or some other guy...
I wish Nadal would stop caressing his posterior, though his generally hot, that is just disgusting!
I'm exhausted!!! I don't know how it's in your town, but here is 41 degrees!!!!!!!!! I'm melting, I have no more strength to express any more of my anger

I couldn't agree with you more on How Sharapova sreems on the court when she hits the ball, i mean the williams sisters grunt as well but to me it's not as annoying as sharapova screems. I think she need more that a sock in her mouth I can't say cause yahoo will beeep it. I have the tennis these days as I was a big fan of the late 80s untill Sampras and Agassi retired. I only watch federer when he reaches a grand slam final that's all other wise, I believe the best tennis era has passed us long time ago. Nowadays it's all about power. What happened to serve and volley, wonderfull drop shots displayed by players like Mcenroe and Sampras, excitement and passion like Conners used to show on the court even at age 40, it's so sad to see it all gone and never to be repeated.

For me, it's being force-fed women's tennis. In any other sport, the mens and womens sides are kept as completely separate entities. Golf and soccer also have successful womens tours, but the TV coverage is ALWAYS restricted to either the guys OR the girls, not the cunfused co-ed mish-mash that occurs in tennis. I can't tell you the amount of times I have tuned in during the early rounds of a Major hoping to watch an entertaining mens match, only to see a dismal and woefully uncompetetive womens mis-match. The WTA just doesn't have the depth of talent to make the early rounds even remotely entertaining. The 20th ranked player (let alone the 70th) doesn't stand the slightest chance against a Williams or Sharapova. The lower ranked players typically have nothing whatsoever to threaten the top stars. It is little more than a practice session. By contrast, the men's draw is usually riddled with thrilling matches early on. There are many players who, while unlikely to ever win a Slam, have enough weapons to pull off the odd stunning upset or give a top seed a real run for his money (i.e.- Paul Henri Matthieu, Fabrice Santoro, Robbie Ginepri, Sebastian Grosjean, Nicholas Kiefer, just to name a few). The mens game, particularly early in a Major, is just much more compelling to watch. By all means, they should show the womens game, but air it at a different time to the mens coverage. Nothing wrong with knowingly tuning in to see the women play, just don't want to hoodwinked into it when I'm expecting a mens match. Well, glad I got that off my chest. Next please!

I'd take a car ride with Rafa Nadal. Rafa is such a fun young guy and he's extremely mature for his age. Considering where Rafa lives, I'd love to ride around and see all the sights and sounds of Mallorca (Spain). Not to mention, he's down to earth, and funny. We would talk about tennis, cars, video games, and sports. We'd probably play a little soccer and Playstation, in which Rafa enjoys both. I'd have dinner with him and his family, learn some spanish, and maybe end the day with a little one on one tennis.

Here is a rant -- the TV coverage of tennis events totally STINK! They tend to waste so much time on stupid useless trivia and crap and not enough time showing and covering matches. Not to mention that a lot of tennis events get little to no coverage at all.

Here is another related rant -- get rid of those stupid player interviews where the reporter guy/gal is obviously a complete stooge who does nothing but ask dumb questions that we either already know the answer to, or honestly don't care.

I miss serve and volley tennis. I think the absence of varying styles has made it much more boring for fans.

ITF, ATP, WTA and USTA should change the rules to make net play viable again, maybe narrow the court by 1 foot on each side.

That way, we can talk about differences between players that isn't just about how physically attractive they are, or how loud they grunt when they hit the ball.

GRUNTING ! or Should I say "SCREAMING" in womens tennis has become absurd !!!. All educated tennis fans know that this is done for "Intimidation" and it often works . 125 MPH ? I would not have the energy to scream . I believe that it is becoming a serious issue , not to mention the injury "diagnosis" and the "potty" time-outs " ???? Yes they are proffessionals , but c'mon , could we get away with that ? at our job ???? Where the heck is tennis going , Inside someones shoe contract ????? I' M OUT !!!!!!!!

i hate how ppl are like so antagonistic about the Williams sisters. Especially when their the only 2 Americans with a grandslam title. Also sumthing related to that is the facts that itz like the Williams against other WTA tour players. Like comparing Maria and Serena, i mean they are both great!. y cant ppl just settle 4 that.

I like to watch Federer play, he is really a delight to watch, but CAN SOMEONE ELSE WIN A GRAND SLAM PLEASE!!! It is so boring watching players play fantastic during a tournament and reach the final witH the potential to defeat Fed only to be picked to pieces in the final. What is wrong with the male players today. That is why i only like to watch Nadal vs Federer because you never know who might win. It is more fun to watch Nadal play to me. Federer PLEASE LOSE JUST ONE GRAND SLAM, I WILL LOVE YOU MORE!!!!
