Those other answers are horrible. From a man, here it is.
It is hard for a man to "commit" to a relationship. So when he makes that decision to at least try and then it is thrown in his face (you cheat) he feels like a fool. For the guy on the side, you are just a piece of a**. As important or special as he may make you feel you are just a trophy on his shelf. He doesn't have to deal with your ups and downs. He knows you are going to leave at some point and he can do his own thing. It's perfect for a guy. Any female cheating is the dumb one. Whether you are male or female and cheat you are negative person.

Wel i guess its a deep thing ..
the majority ( not all 4 sure ) of gues can have relationships/ a bit on the side if u like without any emotional link,
where as most women only do that if there is something deeper.
i know a big generalisation..
but i think true..
so if a guy sleeps with someone its maybe just a conquest- a pravtice/ or he just got horny and she looked cute.. maybe not even knowing her name ..
for a girl
this type is far less likely
and guys know this
so if a girl cheats ,, its serious ...

Because when we are in a relationship with a woman we expect her to be faithful and we will be faithful to. Usually men cheat because the sex life isn't as good as they want, or they are very selfish, and think that two is better than one.
We don't mind being on the side as it usually doesn't end up with any come back for us, yeah we could loose both Women, but we can't get pregnant.
We don't like women cheating on us as it makes us feel like we are worthless, and that we aren't good enough for you. It also makes us feel like we are just there for the sex, or to put the roof over your head.
Personally, I don't believe in cheating and I would never cheat on any one and never have.

I am not into anyone cheating but do not desire to go out with a bit on the side either call me old fashioned but what basis is that for a relationship.

It's due to the sense of ownership, I think. I know what you mean though. I know someone who was divorced recently when he found out that she had a one-night stand 6 years ago. He's been cheating on her on and off their whole marriage (even hit on me which is why I wouldn't go to their home any longer).

I think you're hanging out with the wrong men. Don't generalize to all men. Many don't have a double standard.

no it's not the same.....if he's your man then he's prolly insecure and will get mad of course ...but if they aint ya man and they're jus something on the side then they don't care because your not there gurl if you were then as you know already it's a problem....lol guys are jus dumb anyway lol
