I agree with LittleBarb Christmas Shoes for sure! And there is another one about the little girl that gets adopted by the guy playing santa at the mall.. I can't remember what it's called (do you?). Also The Little Girl by John Michael Montgomery.
Alyssa Lies is also very sad.
Vince Gill Go Rest High On THat Mountain is a really really sad one for me!

I just remembered! CHRISTMAS CAROL BY SKIP EWING

I Think that Concrete Angel is sad but Independce Day is just as sad-the video really cements it. Also, Paper Angels by Jimmy Wayne is sad and Keith Urban's nobody Drinks Alone is a good eye-opener

The saddest song I EVER heard (country) is a song at Christmas called "THE CHRISTMAS SHOES".... I'm 56 years old and every time I hear that song it brings tears to my eyes...it's about a kid in a store who's mother is dying and he wants to buy her a new pair of shoes for when she "meets jesus" and he doesn't have enough money and some guy behind him gives him the money to buy the shoes... by the way, I'm NOT a super religious person but this song just tugs at the heart.

There was one that says "Feed Jake" about the singer dying and wanting someone to take care of the dog. Then there's Garth Brooks's "The Dance", Tim McGraw's "Don't Take The Girl", and a Travis Tritt song where in the video he's a veteran in a wheelchair, lost his wife, so he kills himself by dumping himself in the lake.

(Sorry I don't have names of songs, I have another song stuck in my head right now.)

They are both really sad songs and a reminder of a harsh reality some children live with everyday.
