well its not TOO old, but from the 80's. It is by far the best romance movie EVER and shows that for true love there exists no boundaries of distance or "time"
its called "somewhere in time" with jane seymore and christopher reeves
trust me, its EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My personal favorites are You've Got Mail, Garden State, The Notebook, Sense and Sensibility, Romeo & Juliet (w/Claire Danes & Leonardo DiCaprio), Posession, Dangerous Beauty, Jude, The Piano. Some standard romantic films that girls seem to like: Pretty Woman and Sleepless In Seattle.

The Way We Were Even though the couple end up divorced, the scene at the end says more about love than anything I've ever seen. Maybe it's just that I'm a die hard Robert Redford fan but when Barbra pushes aside Bobby's hair from his forehead, it said it all.

I would say "Lake House" featuring Keanu Reeve and Sandra Bullock. Everything's in God's hands. If you're meant to be together, no matter what, you'll be together. Even with trials and challenges. A very happy ending for them. I am never tired of watching the show over and over.

Love Actually is my favorite romantic comedy There's enough action and humor to keep the guys interested, and Keira Knightley isn't hard on the eyes.
My 2nd choice would be 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore which is another great romantic comedy.
