WASHINGTON - The Pentagon told Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton that her questions about how the U.S. plans to eventually withdraw from Iraq boosts enemy propaganda.

In a stinging rebuke to a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Undersecretary of Defense Eric Edelman responded to questions Clinton raised in May in which she urged the Pentagon to start planning now for the withdrawal of American forces.

A copy of Edelman's response, dated July 16, was obtained Thursday by The Associated Press.

"Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia," Edelman wrote.

He added that "such talk understandably unnerves the very same Iraqi allies we are asking to assume enormous personal risks."

This is just one example of how unprepared either of the Clintons have ever been to take the office of president. She just plain doesn't get it. Don't confuse the well being of our nation with the objectives of the Clintons. Their agenda is to get into that big White House and stay there for 8 years, then go write some books, sell a few pardons, and buy a nice new double-wide in which to retire.

While many will agree with Edelman it is most unfortunate that the "Pentagon" is involved in political discussions.

The Pentagon mismanaged the War from the onset and seems to be more engaged in politics than military activities.

I think they have no business commenting on anything beyond military matters, especially considering we operate via civilian rule.

I think it's the standard whine used to deflect questions about the war "if you question us, you're helping the enemy".

It's BS and the American people know it. And in '08, the repubs will know it too.
