A lot of folks ask for book suggestions on here, which is understandable. Also understandable is asking for good books to read, books that aren't boring. But there in lies the problem. How do we know what the asker thinks is good, non-boring read? When the asker provides some of the stuff they like to read (for example authors, book series, genres) then it becaomes easier for us to make our suggestions. But we still don't know whether or not the asker will find the stuff good and not boring.

Certainly I'm not suggesting people stop making suggestions. I do it every once in a while myself and will continue to do so. We're all going to suggest the things we enjoy. But how do we know that those asking the question will find our suggestions enjoyable rather than something they'd rather put under the foot of a wobbly desk to balance it out?

I like being able to ask for suggestions. I will, however, always supply an author to match up with. And the answer is that you won't know, since everyone is different. You can only keep offering honest suggestions and keep in mind that you used your knowledge to help someone further their love of reading.

You make some excellent points. To me, it's really no different than asking a friend how she liked this band, or that movie, or if the fish at that restaurant was any good. It's all subject to interpretation, and the thrill is quite often in the hunt itself and the possibilities that abound there.

We don't. We just do the best we can. There are however, some classic authors within certain types of genres which are rather good bets.

OKAY...so you have a problem in understanding the concept of SUGGESTION

The people who answers SUGGESTS

The asker then DECIDES

Thats why Suggestions are not the final decision.

Hope this helps
