When you are comparing the base coffee of all three (not the cappachino, frappanchino, expressos, lattes), I personally like starbucks. Starbucks' coffee is a much darker roast than most. Some people describe it as burnt, but to me that darker roasted flavor gives Starbucks its uniqueness. The thing I like most about Starbucks is that it is consistent in brewing their coffee. Dunkin' Donuts is a close second. This coffee is a medium roast, and can be described a nutty. But because I've been drinking Starbucks so long, Dunkin' Donuts coffee seems to be too mild for my taste. McDonalds' coffee is weak and inconsistent. Some stores brew their coffee just perfectly and some stores serve hours-old coffee. there's just no consistency.

Mickey D's.
Starbucks has sold people on the idea that expensive coffee must taste better, but that's not the case. In a blind taste test, more people chose McDonald's over Starbucks.
Personally, I like McDonalds because it goes down smoother (although I wish I lived near a Dunkin Donuts. They're my favorite)

I live across the street from a popular independent coffee place and my carpool buddy and I used to take turns buying our coffee there. The prices are similar to Starbucks, and yikes, was it a lot of money!
So, we decided to try to spare our wallets and try McDonald's on the way to work. First time we went, we ordered vanilla iced coffee with cream and sugar, and we could only drink half of it because it was so sickeningly sweet. We thought maybe it was the vanilla syrup, so next time we ordered plan with cream and sugar. Unbearably sweet again. The third time, we ordered our sugar on the side and guess what. Yep, still ridiculously sweet. So we stopped going there.
There's a Tim Hortons in the building across the way, so that's our choice now.
And I can't really comment on Starbucks, since my partner is an opener there and delivers me free lattes once her shift ends. And everyone knows the best kind of anything is the free kind.

I think McDonald's coffee tastes sour. I don't like it, I prefer Starbucks for coffee any day. True McDonald's is cheaper and if it tastes the same to you, go for it. I personally have boycotted McDonalds on behalf of the unhealthines, uncleanliness, and the places they get their meats. Remember, going to McDonald's for a salad is like going to a crackdealer for vitamins....

McDonalds mainly because it is more convenient. Pop in a McDonalds drive through for a cup almost anywhere when you start to get sleepy driving.
But nothing beats Dark Roast Community Coffee steaming hot and black. You can't beat Cajun Coffee.

Get your coffee at McDonald's. Starbucks is trendy, so they charge a lot.
