I need to find a good paying job that does not do a bkgrnd chk. In UTAH area. Look I am not a criminal. I made a mistake and stayed in an abusive relationship for 5 yrs when I tried to leave my bf at the time tried pulling me out of the car and I got charged with several crimes as felonies but they were dropped to misdemeanors. I moved away because I am now happily married and am trying to fix my life. How can I get a job that will give me a chance?

This will be hard. I would recommend looking into the Human Services field. They are often forgiving of past mistakes, because it actually makes you more empathic towards the clientele. I don't know your educational background, but I have a high school diploma (1/2 year of college) and a past with drugs (not anymore). I have been working with people with substance abuse issues, HIV/AIDS and high risk individuals. I make $37,000 a year (and I have been here one year).

Or, you just start at the bottom and ask for a chance to prove yourself. You would be suprised how many companies are willing to overlook these things when you are honest and upfront (but not all).

Good Luck!

honesty is always the best policy. Tell them what happened, you may get the job, Lie about it, you will get fired.
