WOW....I was in exactly the same postition 4 years ago when I got married...and I didn't do anything about it, and have regretted it everyday since! My husband and I have an arrangement and that is that he deals with his family and I deal with mine. That way where there is something tough to say to the family...usually the Moms...its easier for them to hear it from their own child.
I would have him step in. Make her understand that the reception/wedding isn't a time for performance...its a party to celebrate love! If there is a DJ give him a ABSOLUTELY NOT list of songs...if it can't get played...she can't dance to it.

The Bride's husband-to-be should talk to his mother. This is his wedding, not his mother's. He needs to tell her that this is not what his wife wants. Controlling women like her with take advantage of the situation and have the line dance anyway. Were I the bride, I would stop her in her tracks, right there at the wedding. It's the only way to stop this woman.

You have to sit her down and explain to her your expectations for the wedding, the mood you are setting and tell her a line dance does not fit. Also tell her that she is more than welcome to help but everything should be checked with the bride to be and groom to be....a huge key in making her understand is having your friends fiance there. They need to stick up for you or it will never work no matter what you do

just let her know the truth. its hard when in laws get in the way. i just got out of a five year relationship, and i understand and know when in laws get in the way. its hard to actually tell her, but its the best. weddings are supposed to be memorable, but in a good way.

she needs to explain to her future mother in-law that this day is her day, and if she dosen't want to line dance then so be it. maybe her future husband needs to speak with his mother, and explain things himself, It is his day as well.

Tell her fiance to talk to his mother, if he won't then maybe she'd better rethink marrying him.
