i had one which attached itself to my fish and grazed off their scales, terrifying them, as they couldnt get it off or swim away
must have been the mucus on the scales. i wouldnt have another.

that sounds more along the lines of a chinese algae eater they like to eat the slime off of other fish,

Are you sure it was a Loach, not a Plecostomus or an Algae Eater? Algae Eaters are known to eat fishs' mucus membrane. What kind of "Loach" was it? Do you have any pictures? How big was it? What color?

By the way, Chinese Algae Eaters are Catfish, not Loaches...

it isnt a loach, it is a CAE

Chinese algae eatters, they are nortoius for doign this and should be avoided.

They will reach about 12 inches, but even small ones will suck on the slime coat offishes.

omg chinese algae eaters are the worst...it used to attach itself onto my gold fish...i think it was because of the slime ...and two days ago i found my goldfish dead...when i brought it, it was bright and orange and slowly it lost its colour when i found it dead it was gone all yellowy white. :(

ine never had any problems with my loaches i have a pakistani loach and a clown loach. they sometimes eat slime off other fish. Plecos do it a lot more often though. it wont harm your other fish. just spook them
