You most certainly can get a divorce while your pregnant (At least in the United States ). As far as your child ,when you go for your divorce ,make sure you also file for custody of your unborn child or if the child is born ,make sure you file for custody . It is not automatic that a mother gets custody of her children ,just because she had the child ! He can file custody also .if you don`t file for custody and he does`nt anyone(family ) can file and get get custody . You need a statement of custody from the family court of your county . Also don`t forget to file for spousal support ,and child support too ( yes while your pregnant ). Each state is different so check divorce and child support and custody in your state on line. He deserted the home and broke up the family (no matter what ) . These are the best grounds for divorce, custody ,and support or alimony (which are basically the same thing . Spousal support takes care of you financially while your in your divorce process and sometimes until the payor dies , sometimes it changes from Spousal Support to Alimony after the Divorce . Child support last until the child is 18 or if in college ,25 .

I guess it depends upon what state you live in. I've known a good number of women who got divorces when they were pregnant. As far as the seperation goes you will have to file for legal seperation and then divorce and work out the custody/support issues in court. First thing you have to do is get a lawyer.

If you don't live in a third world country, that is not true. You can get a divorce at any time, and should if you want to. You need to discuss this with an attorney, divorce or no divorce. You need to protect your child, and that will take a lot more effort than hanging out here at Y!A. Good luck!

Yes it's true, you will have to wait for the divorce to be final til after the baby is born. I would get legally separated and get some kind of support coming in from him while you are pregnant!! Best wishes...

when you are married in california and seperate neither party can withold the children from the other. meaning if i decide i want to be with the kids i can go to the fathers house and take them, once i have them he can decide he wants them and can take them back. the only thing the police can do is try to talk to both parties and get them to agree but their hands are pretty much tied to due the marriage and equal rights to the child. that is why it is important to immediately file papers once seperated. you could call a lawyer and have a consultation for free or a small fee to find out what your legal rights and options are where you live.

Why the hell would you not be able to get a divorce because you are pregnant? If it comes time later to file papers, you can note that he moved and left you alone while pregnant to state your case against him.

Every state law is different. you need to make a call to an attorney. normally the first consultation is free. If it costs you 150.00 it will be worth your piece of mind knowing what to do to protect yourself.
