Oregon has had it for a while, and a company hired for 3-and-a-half-million dollars (Deloitte Consulting) came to the conclusion that this would secure the needed funds to maintain our road's infrastructure. Read the brief article attached and let me know how you feel about this. Being charged 1.25 cents per mile vr. 20 cents per gallon. At what point does it cost more? And how to monitor when you drive out of state? GPS-type monitoring equipment secured within your vehicle. Does this sound also a little like BIG BROTHER?

What is your spin on this?

RIO - I didn't think of that - a big part of their motivation may be the Trans-Texas Corridor project (that I hope dies a horrible death!!!)

With everything increasing, we are finding it hard to be able to drive our cars now. Mandatory insurance that keeps getting higher and higher that was suppose to be cheaper if we all had it. Just another lie.

This is definitely BIG BROTHER. This is not going to stop terrorists. This will only monitor the innocent citizen and cause him more misery via government. Most Americans cannot afford another increase in anything. Texas electricity is a horrible crook, thief, and down right fraudulent.

Sounds like total BS. Just more taxes. They should make the 20 cents a gallon tax for road improvement actually go to road improvement.
This tax will just be wasted like the other & is pretty ripe for abuse. What if you bought your car used? Smaller lighter cars don't tear up the highways the same as a big semi does.
What if your miles were driven on a private road like a toll road? Didn't the toll already tax you for maintenance?

I vaguely remember something about this from last year. Sounds to me like this is to fund the NAFTA super highway. Total BS.
