http://www.cobra.com/ Ebay. Any truck stop. Flea market, garage sale.
With a radio you do need an antennae that has to be mounted on the outside of your car or on a pole in your home.
They were popular and officially, you were supposed to buy a license and were give numbers and letters, much like a regular radio station, but many people didn't do that.
That's before cellphones came along and basically, it's a telephone party-line without wires. You can also get handheld ones, much like walkie talkies.

I suggest your local truckstop, and hopefully you have a shop available also.
I suggest staying away from RadioShack as what they have is fairly bottom feeding. The mainstay radio is the cobra 29
and equivalent. (the backlit face is a nice option for night runners...(like I used to prefer)
I had a Grant with upper and lower side bands that I loved but I went off the road, and sold it.
If I go back out, that would be the base line for me.
If you can afford one, get a Galaxy or other upper level radio and be done with it the first time.

Radio Shack and truck stops along the interstate is about the only places to buy one, unless there is a cb shop in your local area (look in the phone book under radio-citizens band)
Online has many companies like Copper electronics.
