First of all I think Pete Rose will be put in the Hall of Fame, but the writers will probably wait till he has passed away.
Second it is really not the same. Rose supposubley never bet on baseball while playing the game, his performance was not enhanced to make him a better player, not that it makes it right.
Bonds on the other hand cheated to make himself better and that will probably cost him the votes he needs to get into the Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately Bonds will get in on the first ballot, but if I had a vote, I would say no. Just a few days ago, there was an article on Yahoo claiming Bonds was a hall of famer before the steroid allegations. This may be true and all but the fact is if he took steroids, he cheated and does not deserve the hall of fame. Having a hall of fame like career early on should not cancel out cheating. The same goes for Mcgwire, Palmerio and Sosa. I would give all these guys a chance to clear their names by swearing they did not take steroids while under oath or on a lie detector test. If they passed, I would let them in, if not then no. By using steriods, these guys have set the records so far out of reach that they will probably never be broken by clean players again. Its a shame to see natural hitters and big men like Ken Griffey jr, Frank Thomas, Roger Maris, and Hank Aaron just have their names as a foot note in the record books while a suspected cheater like Bonds is considered the greatest home run hitter ever. If any of these guys get into the Hall, it will truely devalue the accomplishments of those who worked hard and played by the rules to get in.

Until there has been some proof given or provided that Bonds took steroids in his career other than when he testified than it's more than likely he will be inducted into the hall of fame.
Do you know of any steroid tests that Bonds has failed?
Quite frankly baseball fans really don't want or need another Pete Rose of any kind to keep him company.

He will definitely be in the Hall Of Fame on the first ballot. His career numbers are simply amazing. Yeah he took steroids but at the time he wasn't breaking any rules, so no grounds for banning him. Pete Rose clearly broke the rules by gambling on baseball.

I think hes gonna end up like pete rose because pete rose is the leader in career hits all time and he still didnt get elected into the hall of fame because of his gambling problem...Bonds faces a bigger problem he has been accused of steriod use through out his career so why should bonds get accepted if pete rose didnt and what bonds Did or may have done is much worse than what pete rose did.

100% he will be in the hall of fame unless he is convicted of something. He is one of the greatest players of all time even though we all think he is a juicer. Unless he is convicted Barry Bonds will be in the hall of fame. You cant compare him to Mcgwire because bonds numbers are better and he didnt cop out in court. We will have to see if Bonds shronks after he retires cause he is the same size now as he was when he hit 73 homeruns. There are tons of players who took steroids. Even if he didnt use roids is numbers would still be great with less homers and more speed numbers.

when pete rose gambled he broke a rule that was in the books. all of the years that barry is accused of taking performance enhancing drugs, baseball had no rule on the matter. infact, i think probably 90% of players experimented with these drugs during the 90's. barry even if he doesn't hit 5 more homers, will be in the hall 5 years after he retires. sportswriters would have to be crazy to not elect him first ballot.

As far as I know despite all of the accusations Barry Bonds has not tested positive for steroids and any playing time he has missed has not been due to a drug use suspension. His public image may be that of a jerk but he deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as soon as he is eligible.

You don't just go the the HOF you have to be voted in. Right now there is nothing keeping Bonds from that vote which will occur 5 years after he retires. Rose is a different story, He accepted a life time ban from baseball for gambling on baseball games and will not go the the HOF.
