Our government has turned into a soap opera and just as silly and outrageous as the best of the day time dramas. Over the past 2 years we have had, drunk drivers, sex with interns, a war no one can agree on, divorces, thieving, Nancy P fighting over which government airplane she will get, bigoted statements, stupid statements, a president who can not find the door to get out of a press conference, a vice president who shot his partner while bird hunting, and a big sleep over for apparently no reason. Not one single thing has been accomplished since the last election. The Dem and Rep parties each just blaming each other for everything. Will the American people ever get tired of this and stop reelecting the same fools on both sides?

I'm assuming that you are speaking of the United States. There was a time when all parties had common sense. They founded principles that were used to form and develop this country based upon sound ideas to ensure that individuals had rights and freedoms. Unfortunately, during the last 50 years, these principles have been sorely compromised or forgotten and the word "politician" today is synonymous with power, greed, and corruption.
Since the 1940's there has been a constant and ever increasing division between We The People and the American government. The president is now able to claim executive power in order to avoid prosecution from the senate. The entire set of checks and balances has been corrupted. Add to that the power to keep information hidden from the American public by the use and extension of the "classified" stamp, and it becomes easy to lie or deceive.
I, as an American, am saddened and ashamed at what has become of the American governing system. I think you will find that most Americans feel the same way. Also, in the past few decades less than 40 percent of the American population has turned out to vote. Hopefully, the American people get tired of it soon but they also feel powerless to make change.
What we need is more people like yourself to run for offices.

Great question. Unfortunately, the answer is "no."

While it would be great to see a candidate be honest, be a good role model, and lead the charge for the common man, I think those days are long gone. Now it is much more of a popularity contest and a game of "if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours." All politics are based on money and big business, no matter which party you subscribe to. If you don't have money, then you stand no chance of running a successful campaign or influencing key voting audiences. And how does one get money? By supporting a cause they may not even believe in just so they can have the the financial backing of oil companies, environmentalists, tobacco firms, industrial tycoons, doctors, insurance companies, and any other organization that has a opinion and a check book.

LOL, My friends and I have pondered this question for a while now, so it was funny that I saw it on Yahoo Answers, the only Good Answer that I can come up with is Michael Bloomberg, New York City Mayor, I swear he's the first person I've seen in any political setting that uses plain f'ing common and pratical sense. That's rare in these times. The scarry part is this is his last term, he can't run anymore. Sorry to say, even our presidential candidates don't have a pot to piss in nor a window to throw it out of with trying to get a vote from me, but if anything, it's going to be ........... JOHN EDWARDS, he makes SENSE.

Common sense for politicians, I think not!
What American? It's full of people from all over the world, that don't want to learn the language, that want to bring their beliefs from their country to America. They seem to forget why they left their country to start with. All politicians care about is being elected so they can have control, money and a super great retirement!

As soon as someone is elected into office, their brains begin to leak out of their ears.

Scientists do not know why this happens, but they do know that celebrities of the Hollywood persuasion also have this affliction, only it manifests itself ten times faster.

It is the wealth of power that intoxicates. The U.S. is actually a one-party system where lobbyists control the wheel, engine and body of that automobile.

the actual project is the magnitude of money in politics. you won't have the capacity to run for president except you have 30 or 40 million interior the economic company to start. so which you won't have the capacity to even get reported on the information till you have already offered out. the two events get their investment from the comparable places so, understandably, they the two have the comparable values and the two produce the comparable effects. like numerous different 2 comparable products interior the industry, they spend all their time and money attempting to distinguish themselves from one yet another. i think of the Bush admin. is thoroughly uncontrolled. The warfare is going badly yet they have no plan to actual exchange something or attempt a different innovations-set. they're wiretapping without warrants, torturing prisoners, preserving human beings without fees or habeas corpus, they tried to co-decide each branch of the federal executive. to paintings for the occasion, etc.etc. Bush has no appreciate at excited with regards to the constitutional limits of his workplace or perhaps holds himself above the regulations that he himself signs and indicators! The Democrats are slowly investigating a majority of those crimes, yet what's rather undesirable are the precedents they set--destiny presidents would be waiting to declare those comparable rights because of the fact Bush did them. it extremely is exciting that no longer one Democratic candidate has stated so far wherein if he's elected he won't do those issues. I blame the Republicans regularly, because of the fact they have been greater cheating and corrupt than the Democrats, and lots greater smug. yet there is unquestionably adequate blame to flow around. all of us prefer particularly some issues from government. human beings can actual disagree approximately how great a place executive. could take in American existence, what's suited for the executive. to do and what it extremely is going to stay out of. There are stable innovations on the two factors. yet NONE persons are going to get what we could like till we have the capacity to cut back the magnitude of money in politics.
