I like the name Kira and I don't even mind the alternative spelling (I usually hate alternative spellings).

I grew up with a girl named Kira (lived in my neighborhood) and I always thought it was cool that it was unique. Kara is pretty common, but I've only known 1 Kira. I like it.

I like the name but the first things to come to mind are that show "Reba", her daughter is named Kyra and of course, Kyra Sedgwick the actress.

Very cute. An alternative is Kiren (pronounced Keer-in), which also has different spellings.

Well, I'm sure to most people it would be nice name and it is, but I wouldn't name my kid that....why? Because "Kir" means d ick in Farsi.
Not a word I would want attached to them...
But seeings how most people won't know that, go for it....its still a pretty name.
