my cervix is pretty soft and high. But I was wondering about the opening of the cervix. DH and I are wanting to have a fourth child and when I check my Cervix, the opening is there, but well how should I put this....

it feels like its closed and then at times it doesnt... like there is a slit at the top of the opening? I can still fit my finger tip in it, but I just wondered how its suppose to feel if youre pregnant?

I never did check my cervix with my other pregnancies, so I cant compare them to how it feels now. Also, last time I went to the bathroom i had some yellowish looking mucus that looked inbetween watery and slippery kind of mucus.

SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE.
THANK YOU.

Im really curious as to whats going on with my body. Ive taken a blood test a few days past my period was due, and the nurse said it was negative.

But my cervix has not changed at all.
Its been high and soft and somedays I get the slippery looking mucus, clear or with yellowish color to it. Ive been noticing that im really tired, i took a two hour nap yesterday. Ive been on and off with nausus feelings and my temperature has been at 98.5 for the awhile now. I havnt charted my temps before, but im trying to figure out things. a womans body is so confusing.

First of all it is ok to feel your cervix with a freshly washed finger. Your vagina is a very unsanitary part of your body anyways. What is the difference between your partners privates and your finger? Anyways your cervix becomes more open with each child you have. So it may not feel closed all the way. When you are pregnant it should be low and closed or more closed than usual. Close to ovulation it is higher and more open. I would rely mostly on your temperatures. 18 higher temperatures usually means you are pregnant. I too am charting for the first time and I got the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". My dr recommended it to me. It is a great book that is full of info for all women.

The yellowish mucus is part of your plug. It looks like snot. Mine started coming out at 28 weeks and by 36 weeks it was gone. It's nothing to worry about. The mucus keeps regenerating. Your cervix is supposed to be soft and high when pregnant. There is usually a dimple there, which sometimes a doctor will refer to as being a fingertip dialated. Most of us who have had a baby will remain a fingertip dialated for the rest of our lives. It's nothing to be concerned about.

*I misunderstood your question, I thought you were pregnant. How many days has your temperature been up?? If it's been at least 18 days then I would say for sure you are pregnant, and take another test.

First of all, keep your probing fingers outta there! You, even on your most clean day, (sanitizer for hands etc) are still dirty and germ covered. Also, when it's time, it's time. Once you go into labor, and you are being checked (by a professional) ask for a pair of gloves and some advice on what you are feeling.
The goo was probably your mucus plug. It will pass a little bit at a time from now until you give birth.
