I don't care if you are Republican or Democrat. I don't think we should have went in the first place(my own opinion) & everybody is entitled to their own. I realize we can't leave now because it would cause awhole bunch of turmoil & such. I also believe that we will still be there in the middle of that Civil War way after the guy in the White House who is not doing a great job of being president with a lower approval rating than Nixon during Watergate scandal was going on is out of office. Both sides(DEMS & REP) have to come up with an alternative solution to getting our troops out of IRAQ.

All the troops will probably leave Irag sometime after they all leave Germany and Japan. We will be in Irag forever. Or until the country explodes like Iran in 1979.

Most of the troops will either leave soon after the Democrats take office so the new president can claim that they had nothing to do with the collapse of the country or they will remain there for most of the next president's term.

We either have to let that country fall and fight the radicals when they take over and come after us or try to hold it up until there are enough reasonable people to run the country. The second option could take generation, if it ever happens.

I don't know that all of our troops will ever be withdrawn from Iraq. However, I do believe that the majority will begin leaving shortly after Bush leaves office. The reason is because I do believe that no matter who wins the Presidency they will feel the weight of growing dissent among the people of the United States to end the conflict.

I think the answer is simple. Pull our troops out of Iraq, but keep the sixth fleet just off shore to supply air and tactical support Iraqi police as needed.

To answer your question our troops will only pull out once the fear of civil war is gone...never. It seems our "leaders" lack any understanding of Iraq's history, the country has never been at peace with itself. The only period of peace in its history was from 1500 to 1920 (before it was "Iraq") when the Ottomans controlled Iraq by dividing into three "self ruling" states.

Most likely, April of 2009.

That's because Bush is almost certainly going to stall for the 16 months between now and the 2008 elections, and it's very unlikely that Congress is going to get its act together enough to actually function like a branch of the govt.

So, once a new president is elected, plans will be put into place to withdraw the troops. Which will take several month, and which won't officially start until January 2009.

It's been 62 years since the end of WWII and we still have troops in Germany and Japan. So I'm guessing it will be a very long time before ALL of our troops our out.

Never. Part of the mission is to establish permenent military bases in Iraq for quick response to potential threats to the oil reserve system. Hegemonic cntrol requires a military presence, and basing.

There will always be some troops there. But I think we will see the troops starting to come home in 18 months to 2 years.

I agree - NEVER. We'll probably have a bas there until the end of time...from experience once the States goes in somewhere they never completely leave....We have bases all over the planet in all the places we've interfered with - that's kind of our shtick.

Never. We'll build a base and have limited forces.
